TABITHA’S COSMIC AROMATHERAPY

VITAMIN C TREATMENT PRODUCTS:

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) to the skin, it can actually stimulate the production of collagen, a protein that helps form the skin’s supporting structure. Normally as we age, collagen levels diminish; as a result, our skin wrinkles.

Vitamin C, we have also added the free-radical-fighting antioxidant Vitamin E to our formula. Vitamin E has been proven effective in helping to prevent skin damage from sun exposure and the negative effects of the environment. Apply them at night before you go to bed; your skin needs 6-8 hours for maximum absorption of the antioxidant. Vitamin C is believed to stimulate collagen production in skin; therefore it will help retain youthful looking, "plumped" skin, as well as enhancing skin elasticity. It reduce crow's feet, under-eye bags, fine lines, sagging skin, age spots, skin discoloration, smoker's lines, minor acne scars. It's recommended for all skin types and results should be visible in four weeks.

In the presence of air or other oxidizing agents, vitamin C is easily converted to an oxidized form, which not only is of no benefit for collagen synthesis or free radical scavenging but also actually promotes free radical formation causing damage to collagen, DNA and other vital structures. In poorly prepared or poorly stored skin care products, vitamin C may already be oxidized by the time you apply it to your skin. Even when you apply "good" vitamin C to your skin, it may become oxidized while on your skin.

Both problems can be solved if vitamin C is (1) properly preserved by sufficient amounts of protective substances; (2) quickly absorbed by the skin so that it has a chance to work while intact; and  (3) vitamin C concentration in a product is high enough to create a substantial increase in vitamin C levels in skin cells.  Vitamin C protects skin against harm caused by exposure to sunlight. It does this by neutralizing reactive oxygen species (free radicals), the highly reactive molecules produced by the interaction of sunlight, cell membranes, and other components of skin tissue.

It does not absorb light, and hence, is not a sunscreen, so it should not be used in replacement of sunscreen, but rather is a good companion to sunscreen products. Plus, once vitamin C gets into the skin, it cannot be washed, rubbed, or perspired off. Vitamin C is what is known as an antioxidant.

Antioxidants protect skin by neutralizing free radicals, which would otherwise destroy skin and its components. These free radicals are stimulated by ultraviolet light and also occur naturally in the oxygen atmosphere.
